Abstract
In this proposal for a combined tourist information center and city hall in downtown Boston, locals and tourists each follow separate exterior pathways but come together in the shared interior program spaces. Traveling through this building is like taking a tour of Boston: as the locals and tourists climb from ground level to the top, they can take in the sights of Boston through the carefully placed openings in the facade. The building is supported by nine 24" by 24" columns that seem to appear and disappear on each floor. On some floors, they will be aligned and appear to create a wall, while on other floors a single column will serve as a point of reference.
