Abstract
A refugee is any person forced to flee from their country by persecution, war, or violence. In the United States, refugee resettlement agencies help them learn English and find jobs. They go on to contribute positively to their new communities. However, for some long-term residents, the benefits of refugee resettlement may be difficult to grasp. In order to develop a neighborhood that is inclusive and beneficial to all residents, this “shared” refugee resettlement organization both improves the refugee resettlement experience and perceptibly fills the needs of the current residents of Fairfax, Cleveland. In addition to classrooms and offices, it provides much-needed programs such as cafes and libraries to the neighborhood. These new programs create a network of buildings that will add new foot traffic and create safe public spaces for Fairfax, Cleveland.
