Abstract
Unlike a typical tower composed of stacked horizontal floor plates, this tower is like a city that has been turned on its side. The program spaces cantilever off the shear walls of the circulation bar, and these protruding programs are connected physically only through the circulation bar: this allows activities in one area of the program space to spill outwards, both vertically and horizontally to other spaces. The concept behind the landscaping around the tower was to create the sectional experience of the tower in the planar experience of the ground floor. The cantilevered programs become planters, and the continuous voids become pathways that rise up and down to create a similar but different spatial experience.
